  My Favorite Bible Passages

 There are so many to list, I probably should just publish the whole Bible, but here are a few of my favorites.

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself..' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40
Listen to me your father, O children; and act accordingly, that you may be kept in safety. For the Lord honored the father above the children, and he confirmed the right of the mother over her sons. Whoever honors his father atones for sins, and whoever glorifies his mother is like one who lays up treasure. Whoever honors his father will be gladdened by his own children, and when he prays he will be heard. Whoever glorifies his father will have long life, and whoever obeys the Lord will refresh his mother; he will serve his parents as his masters.  Honor your father by word and deed, that a blessing from him may come upon you. For a father's blessing strengthens the houses of the children, but a mother's curse uproots their foundations.

Do not glorify yourself by dishonoring your father, for your father's dishonor is no glory to you.  For a man's glory comes from honoring his father, and it is a disgrace for children not to respect their mother. O son, help your father in his old age, and do not grieve him as long as he lives; even if he is lacking in understanding, show forbearance; in all your strength do not despise him.  For kindness to a father will not be forgotten, and against your sins it will be credited to you; in the day of your affliction it will be remembered in your favor; as frost in fair weather, your sins will melt away.  Whoever forsakes his father is like a blasphemer, and whoever angers his mother is cursed by the Lord.
Sirach 3: 1-16
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
Honor God in all things. Exodus 20:3, 1 Corinthians 6:20
Seek God's face regularly. 1 Chronicles 16:11
Serve the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-13

Have a servant's heart. John 13:14
Practice faithful, daily prayer. Luke 11:9-10

The Lord said to Moses, "Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites.  Say to them:

"The Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;

The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace"

"So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."

Numbers 6:22-27
