2010 - 2011  2nd Grade Religious Education Handouts

St. Vincent de Paul RE website

Weekly Trivia:  Here is the trivia question for the week.  If the kids come to class with the correct answer, they will be able to pick a surprise out of the goodie bag!  The kids can write their answer on a piece of scrap paper with their name or write it on a page in their journal.  If they are going to use their journal, have them write the question number and just fill in the answer each week (can use the same page each week)..  Clue: the answers will come from the weekly handouts (posted below), the Bible, standard prayers, mass or the Church bulletin for that week.  Parents can help find the answer (and learn something too).

Trivia Question due Oct 13 :

What does John 14:6 say in the Bible?

Journal writing:  In their notebook on the top of a new page, please have the kids write the date and sentence below and then fill in their answer in the blank.  Then, have them write a prayer, write about something on their mind, something that happened at school or with a friend, something they did great that week or something they may need help with, or they can draw a picture to God.  These will be private writings and will not be shared in class, but I would like them to bring them to class so I can see that they are working on them.

Journal writing due Oct 13:

This week I will surprise someone with an act of kindness. I will ___.

In depth instructions for Trivia questions and Journal writing assignments.

If the above question and writing have already changed for the next week, here are the previous Trivia questions and Journal writing.

Please also check out the Faith First website!  There are great activities to supplement what I am teaching in class.  At the top of each week sheet, I put the unit and chapter we are studying.  You can use this to look up additional information on that chapter on the website.  I also encourage you to let the children go through the Chapter Review to make sure they are retaining what they are learning during class.  We use the Legacy Edition in our class.
